How they met
Kate and Wills first met September 2001 where they both studied art history at St. Andrews University (the oldest university in Scotland) and lived close to each other in the residence halls.
It was the now famous charity fashion show March 2002 where Kate modeled a sheer black dress that caught the Prince’s attention (who was sitting front row).
September 2002 they moved into an apartment with friends, but weren’t dating….
but they became a ‘proper’ item winter 2003.
In 2004 they went on a skiing holiday in Klosters, Switzerland but William famously said “I don’t want to get married until I’m at least 28 or maybe 30,” hinting that nothing would happen anytime soon.
William received his wings from his father during the Passing Out Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, December 2006. Kate was in attendance as a royal guest.
Since then the couple had rarely been seen together, but it was always news when they were together. William had increasingly become involved in the Armed Forces. They claimed they were “simply friends,” but we all knew better…
Spring 2010 Kate and Wills move into a cottage in northern Wales near the prince’s Royal Military Academy. In October, Kate and William took a vacation to Kenya, Kate recounts:
“He’s a true romantic and we had a wonderful holiday in Africa and it was out there in a very quiet lodge and it was very romantic and it was very personal time for both of us.”
On the choice of the engagement ring Wills had this to say:
“Well as you may recognize now, it’s my mother’s engagement ring and it’s very special to me, as Kate is very special to me now as well. It was only right the two were put together,” William said. “It was my way of making sure mother didn’t miss out on today and the excitement and the fact that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.”
